I LOVE matcha in all things: lattes, smoothies, baked goods… But the obvious correct decision this week was popsicles. Because summer.
Matcha is made from powdering green tea leaves, so it’s more concentrated than steeping the same amount of green tea. That means it also concentrates the benefits of green tea, such as the polyphenols (antioxidants) and L-theanine, which has a calming effect. For those like myself who are slightly sensitive to caffeine (and matcha does have more caffeine than whole green tea leaves), L-theanine is a gamechanger to balance out any potential jittery feeling.
I used Four Sigmatic’s Matcha Latte with Lion’s Mane, which uses organic, high quality (ceremonial grade) matcha and the medicinal mushroom Lion’s Mane that is most known for enhancing memory, mood, and cognitive function. It’s these properties that make Lion’s Mane Matcha Popsicles so perfect for a pick-me-up treat during a warm afternoon when you need a mental boost. Plus, they are totally scrumptious.
